On July 3rd, we had the kids over for dinner, games, and to watch our neighborhood's fireworks. Since the fireworks did not start until 10:00, we offered to keep the grandkids overnight. Kelly felt they needed to take Clare home since she wakes up in the night, and Kristy opted to take Ryan home. They did put all 4 kids down and they did go to sleep and through some miracle, they slept through all the booms and bangs. Reese and Grace spent the night and in the morning, it was so cute to hear them talking. We have a toddler bed in our master bedroom for Reese, and in the morning, Holly brought Grace in to our room. Reese got up and started to make her bed and Grace offered to "help" her pull the blankets up. Reese said, "it's okay, Grace. I can do it...but I really appreciate it." They went on to have a grown up conversation. Of course I was pretending I was still asleep and had to cover my mouth to keep from laughing out loud! It was so precious!

That was so nice of you to keep them! We really appreciated it. Of course, as I'm sitting here listening to Grace scream (it's midnight and it has been almost an hour), I wish I would have sent her over tonight!

Yes, Joel and I appreciated it very much. I hope she wasn't too much trouble! (I know she is an early riser.) I would have loved to hear their conversation. They are too funny!
